Biography
Colombian artist. Graduated in the institute of Fine Arts in Medellin, Colombia. Studies that culminated in the year 1983. Complemented with her mentor the Spanish Art Master, Domingo Perez 'Chomin'.
Ceramics and sculpture have been subject of her studies, receiving the academic part with the ceramist Angela Maria Restrepo and sculpture with Rodrigo Monsalve Isaza.
At the University of Antioquia she attended a seminar on art in the renaissance dictated by professor Alberto Gonzalez in 2004. Later completed the certificate in cultural management in 2005.
Other studies and experiences to develop other skills sets in foreign countries: Art restoration at ECORE in Barcelona, Spain in 2007 . Workshops in the New York Art School Salmagundi during fall season in 2010.
She does not have a particular theme, a flower, a sunset, a sunrise, the sea, an old house, inspired her.
Her favorite tool for culminating a work is the knife using it as a magic wand, for the finishing touches.
Her motto: "Every day my thoughts fill with joy, with the conviction that I can do what I propose and what I want is to make it better, every day" .
Worked with a diverse range of clients including local authorities, arts and cultural institutions and non-profit organizations, Julia Martelo Burgos has been highly recognized for great work with several nominations in art contest supported by Medellin Municipality. BIOGRAFIA
Artista del Caribe colombiano, graduada en artes plásticas del Instituto de Bellas Artes, Medellín Colombia, 1983. Estos estudios los complementó con su mentor el maestro Español Domingo Pérez “Chomin”.
Realizó diversos talleres de cerámica, en Medellín. Curso de curaduría en la Secretaria de Cultura de Córdoba. Historia del arte: Arte y cultura en el renacimiento, Universidad de Antioquia, con el maestro Alberto González. Diplomado en Gestión Cultural Universidad de Antioquia (2004-2005). Escuela de Conservación y restauración ECORE, en Barcelona España año 2007. En 2010 participó en talleres de pintura en Salmagundi Art Club, New York.
La naturaleza, mi gran inspiración, la espátula mi mejor instrumento, con la arcilla y la plastilina para modelado, me permiten plasmar figuras donde el movimiento se vuelve mágico desde cualquier ángulo.
La investigación de lo ya plasmado en un lienzo, le posibilitan restaurar las obras que el tiempo ha tomado ventaja de ellas.
